CREATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY

The local people, headed by Forester Fortunato A. Avellano, had initiated the move for the creation of the Municipality of General Nakar through a petition paper. Such endeavor was realized, with the help of the late Congressman Fortunato Suarez and the late Governor Santayana of Quezon, when Executive Order No. 246 was signed by His Excellency, the late President Elpidio Quirino on 21 July 1949. The new town was curved out from Infanta, Quezon, which was its mother municipality then called “Distrito Pelagio” and was named in honor of the late Guillermo P. Nakar, a hero of World War II and a native of Barangay Anoling.

POLITICAL BACKGROUND

From its creation in 1949 to the present, the municipality of General Nakar has been administered by fourteen (14) mayors, viz: Hon. Agripino L. Quinto (appointed) 1949-1951 Hon. Catalino P. THE MUNICIPAL PROFILE

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Geographical Location

General Nakar is the northernmost municipality of Quezon Province. It is bounded on the north by the Municipality of Dingalan, Aurora, on the east by Polilio Strait, on the south by the municipalities of Real and Infanta, Quezon, and on the west by the Provinces of Rizal, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija. It lies geographically between 1210 8’ and 1210 42’ east longitudes, and 140 45’ and 150 20’ north latitudes.

Political Subdivision and Land Area

General Nakar is the largest municipality of Quezon Province with 161,640 hectares land area. About 72.36 % of the municipality’s total land area is covered by barangays Umiray and Pagsangahan sharing 38.57 % and 33.79 %, respectively.

VISION

A Municipality well-known as the center of biodiversity in Luzon by practicing inclusive and sustainable growth in organic agriculture, green tourism, climate change adaptation, disaster management, and infrastructural development towards the improvement of peoples well-being, community resilience, and regional economic progress.

Ang bayan ng General Nakar kilala bilang sentro ng samut saring buhay sa Luzon na nagsasabuhay ng pangkalahatan at likas-kayang pag-unlad sa organikong pagsasaka, luntiang turismo, pag-angkop sa pabago-bagong panahon, pamamahala sa sakuna, at pag-unlad ng imprastraktura tungo sa paghusay ng kabuuang pagkatao, katatagan ng komunidad, at pangrehiyong kaunlarang pang-ekonomiko.

MISSION

To enhance the socio-economic condition and cultural values of the people through the promotion of an integrated ecosystems management, creation of equitable livelihood opportunities, efficiency in the delivery of social services, and representation of the marginalized and vulnerable sectors bridging together long-term multi-sectoral partnerships for good governance.

Layunin

Pataasin ang pangsosyo-ekonomikong kalagayan at pagpapahalaga sa kultura ng mga mamamayan sa pamamagitan ng pagtataguyod ng pinagsamang pamamahala ng ecosystem, paglikha ng karampatang pagkakataon sa kabuhayan, kahusayan sa pagbibigay ng panlipunang paglilingkod at pagkakaroon ng mga kinatawan ng ibat ibang mahihirap at nasa laylayang sektor ng lipunan na magbibigay daan sa pangmatagalang multi-sektoral na pakikipagtuwang tungo sa mabuti at mahusay na pamamahala.
