Officials from the Local Government of General Nakar, Quezon lead by Municipal Mayor Leovegildo “Obing” Ruzol and Vice Mayor Jose Lareza were in Makati City last November 23, 2011 for the signing of the Agreement for the Establishment of the Twinning Relationship between the two local governments. Both share a common desire to promote and foster strong special ties, mutual understanding, friendship and goodwill and share the same intention of creating an atmosphere in which economic and community development can be implemented and strengthened. These common interests can only be achieved through exchanges in science and technology, culture and arts, tourism, planning and urban development, commerce/trade and industry, education and sports development, environmental protection, public health and social services which both local governments are willing to give to each other. And on the same day, November 23, 2011, Mayor Ruzol and Mayor Binay signed the said agreement marking the establishment of a twinning relationship between the Municipality of General Nakar and the City of Makati.
Environmental protection is one of the primary programs of the Local Government of General Nakar. And together with it's neighbour municipalities Infanta and Real, the Run For Sierra Madre was conducted last December 10, 2011. Originally suggested by our partner from the 76th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army Lt. Col. Edmundo Peralta during one of the General Nakar Municipal Peace and Order Council Meeting, the said activity planning was then initiated by the Local Government of General Nakar. It was a 21Km half marathon which started at Brgy. Capalong in Real going to Infanta and finished at the Municipal Grounds in Brgy. Anoling in General Nakar. This activity aims to promote environmental awareness and tourism in the area especially the protection of our Sierra Madre Mountains which a large part stretches along the Municipality of General Nakar. Civilians and other organizations and other agencies like the PNP also took part of the event and is generally successful and will most likely be done again in the future.
